About Jim Stopher
Jim Stopher appeared at age 15 as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra, performing a Mozart concerto with an original cadenza. His musical education continued at Harvard University, the University of Arizona, and the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied conducting with master teacher Gustav Meier. Now in his third season as Music Director of the College of Marin Symphony Orchestra, Stopher recently completed four seasons in the same role with the Joliet (IL) Symphony Orchestra. At COM, he teaches courses in music history, repertoire, theory, and ear training; he also serves as the chair of the music department.
