Franz Liszt 206th Birthday Concert
Music for piano duo, soprano, speaker, cello and piano by the musical colossus of the 19th century. Program includes the tone poem Mazeppa for piano duo, art songs for soprano, works for cello, the declamation Sorrowful Monk for speaker and piano, and other works displaying the enormous breadth of Liszt’s compositional imagination.
Performed by soprano Sibel Demirmen, cellist Jan Volkert, and pianists Paul Smith, Valeria Szervanszky, and Ronald Cavaye.
Program length approximately 75 minutes.
