Contemporary Opera Marin — Two by Judith Weir

Director Paul Smith revives the two masterpieces of the late 20th by British composer Judith Weir that put Contemporary Opera Marin on the international map. Featuring Sibel Demirmen, Linda Noble Brown, Buzz Halsing, and Marcia Gronewold. King Harald’s Saga — grand opera in three acts for solo soprano. Heaven Ablaze in His Breast — music theater in one act for two pianos, singers and actors. Program length 75 minutes.

Two for Two Pianos and Percussion 

The Not Mr. & Mrs. Smith Piano Duo (Jean Alexis Smith and Paul Smith) open the program with Michael Daugherty’s paean to the great tradition of the American cocktail piano followed by the Szervanszky/Cavaye Piano-duo (Valeria Szervanszky and Ronald Cavaye) performing Bartok’s stunning masterpiece. Michael Daugherty — Lounge Lizards for 2 Pianos
and Percussion. Bela Bartok — Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion. Program length 75 minutes.
