Eligibility
Marin residents age 18 and under. Previous first prize winners not eligible.
Entry Fee
$25
Prizes
One winner will receive a $500 cash award and perform as soloist with the College of Marin's full symphony orchestra on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
Repertoire
Contestants must choose a work for soloist and orchestra not to exceed 12 minutes (individual movements acceptable), and appropriate for a community-level orchestra. All repertoire is subject to the approval of the music director. If you’re unsure of the suitability of a particular piece, please contact Jim Stopher, Music Director at jstopher@marin.edu.
Public-domain works are preferred. Memorization is not required, but it is encouraged.
Availability
Finalists must be available for:
- Up to three Monday-evening rehearsals prior to concert week
- Dress rehearsal – Friday, May 10, 2019, 7 pm
- Concert – Sunday, May 11, 2019, 3 pm
Accompanists
Participants must provide their own accompanists.
Competition Details
Auditions will take place during the morning and afternoon on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Once registered, participants will be assigned a time. Participants must be prepared to perform their entire selection.
