The Golden Gate Brass Band's December concert will center around Alfred Reed's Othello: A Symphony Portrait in Five Scenes for Brass Ensemble. The suite takes advantage of that full bold sound brass instruments are capable of and mirrors the emotion and dramatics found in William Shakespeare's Othello. The performance will also include some beautiful arrangements of popular tunes such as Shepard's Hey, Scarborough Fair, Shenandoah, and the choral piece, October, by Eric Whitacre.
