MARIN ORATORIO
Holiday Splendor
Antonio Vivaldi — Gloria, RV589
Camille Saint-Saëns — Oratorio de Noël, Opus 12
Paul Smith, director
Marin Oratorio continues an over 60-year tradition of presenting choral masterpieces at College of Marin for the holiday season. Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, composed in Venice in 1715, is one of the great expressions of the Baroque choral style. Oratorio de Noël (Christmas Oratorio) was Camille Saint-Saëns’ gift to Paris and premiered on Christmas Eve, 1858. Both works have full chorus and orchestra and some of the finest vocal soloists in the Bay Area — Sibel Demirmen, Christa Durand, Valentina Osinski, Michael Orlinsky, and Martin Bell.
